Butt Buddies World Cup Contest sponsored by Soccer Pro

Corrigan Brothers love Trappatoni almost as much as we love Soccer Pro

What's better than free footie gear right before the holidays? Almost nothing, that's right. So we've teamed up once again with our favorite online soccer shop Soccer Pro to run a brand new Butt Buddies World Cup Play-Off Prediction Contest this week.

The first place winner will receive any jacket of their choice from the Soccer Pro website - from USA to Inter Milan to Manchester United, Arsenal, and many many more...

The second place winner will receive an official 2010 World Cup replica ball - the design of which will be released to the public on December 4th!

So - those are the amazing prizes, now - what do you have to do to win?

The rules are easy:

I. Simply predict the aggregate winner of each of the six World Cup play-off fixtures taking place Nov 14th and Nov 18th.

II. As a first tie-breaker, predict the total number of goals scored by current Premier League players over the course of the six play-off matches. (For example, if John O'Shea is the only EPL player to score over the course of all the play-off matches and he scores twice, then the answer is just "2.")

III. As a second tie-breaker (just in case), predict the total number of goals scored over two legs in the marquee Ireland - France qualifier.

That's it!

Here are the matches:

Portugal - Bosnia, Greece - Ukraine, Russia - Slovenia, Ireland - France, Costa Rica - Uruguay, and New Zealand - Bahrain*

*New Zealand and Bahrain drew 0-0 in the first leg of their qualifier, so this is just one match. The second leg is November 14th in Wellington. The other 5 fixtures have yet to begin and 2 legs will be played in those.

Here's a sample contest entry:

1. Portugal
2. Ukraine
3. Russia
4. Ireland
5. Uruguay
6. Bahrain

Tie breaker 1: 5 EPL goals

Tie breaker 2: 4 total goals France - Ireland

That's it. The tie-breakers are obviously very important so take them seriously, since I expect a few predictors to nail 5 out of 6 or perhaps even a perfect 6-for-6 when it comes to the WC teams...

You can e-mail us your predictions to nevercaptainnickybutt [at] gmail [dot] com and please write "CONTEST" in the subject line or, as always, you can leave your predictions in the comments section. If you have any questions, please e-mail us or leave your questions in the comments. The contest will close at 11:59PM Pacific Time on November 13th.

Good luck to all. Thanks to Soccer Pro for sponsoring the contest and offering such great prizes. As we gear up for the World Cup, Soccer Pro will have the best selection on the web for World Cup jerseys and World Cup balls, so you know where to go to get yourself ready for South Africa.
